I first learnt about Frankincense from the famous Christmas Story as one of the gifts the 3 Wise Men from the east presented to baby Jesus’ parents Mary & Joseph.
🌟The resin “bleeds” from the bark when the tree is pierced or cut.
🌟Harvesters allow the resin to harden and crystallise into what they call “tears,” and then return to scrape & collect them individually.
🌟Can you imagine how labour intensive this type of work is and more so in an unforgiving harsh desert climate.
🌟Truly incense is a treasured commodity since antiquity for its medicinal values, healing properties and in worship rituals.
